Sustainability Manager
The Estates and Facilities Department within the University of Chester are looking to recruit a Head of Sustainability to lead and develop the Sustainability Unit to ensure effective delivery of Citizen Student Strategic KPIs, unit objectives, staff development and real-world engagement opportunities for students across all University sites. You will be required to work with various members from university boards to oversee further development, implementation, communication and reporting of the University’s Sustainability Strategy, as well as being a crucial part with Department business planning, strategy and annual budgeting processes with particular reference to sustainability
Reporting directly to the Director of Estates you will be able to provide expertise to relevant staff on the legal requirements for compliance and provide advice, guidance, raise awareness of sustainability issues and identify opportunities for external collaboration, relevant awards and funding.
An understanding of decarbonisation is an expectation within the role as you will have responsibility for project management of large multi-faceted decarbonisation and waste reduction strategies in the context of supporting the University’s teaching, research, and other business activities
The role holder will hold a degree or post-graduate degree in an appropriate discipline such as sustainable development, environment and sustainability, climate change or equivalent industry/work experience. It is desirable that the role holder holds a relevant Project Management Qualification, and is carbon literate.
