Laboratory Assistant (Animal Husbandry)

The School of Natural Sciences are seeking to appoint a Laboratory Assistant in Animal Husbandry to join the School’s Technical support team. The post-holder will be primarily responsible for providing high quality animal husbandry to our on-site animal populations. You will also be expected to assist in the preparation of equipment for practical teaching and general laboratory housekeeping duties. 

 

You will have good communications skills and be able to work as part of a team. You must have 5 GCSEs grade A-C (or equivalent). It would be advantageous to have an A Level in Biology.

 

You must have previous experience of animal husbandry, it would be advantageous to have previous experience of handling reptiles, insects, amphibians and marine life. You must also be aware of Health and Safety, be computer literate and have the ability to plan your own work. 

 

This role will require working on Bank Holidays and other university closure dates in order to maintain high animal welfare standards.
