Description

The University of Chester has an established Apprenticeships Team to support the development of degree level apprenticeships within the University, responding to the major growth in this area of work within the University sector. We have already more than 900 degree apprentices studying with us and this number is set to rise significantly over the coming months. The Apprenticeships team have overall responsibility for the administration and introduction of these schemes as well as liaising with University faculties and professional services departments engaged in the delivery, oversight and management of the programmes.

The University seeks to appoint 5 Learning Mentors who will work with Faculties, degree apprentices and employer partners to help facilitate the development of learning plans, record skill development and to support and encourage student achievement in partnership with their employers and the University.

An area of recent apprenticeship programme developments and significant growth in numbers has been in the Faculty of Health and Social Care and Business. Initially, although not exclusively, you will be supporting apprentices on these programmes, therefore a background in either of these sectors, although not a requirement, will be an advantage.

You will be a fast learner with excellent interpersonal skills and be educated to degree level. You will be comfortable in a role that involves travelling to visit employers and developing interactions with colleagues in a variety of settings and at every level of an organisation. You will have excellent attention to detail and careful record-keeping skills, alongside the ability to work with IT-based student records systems.

Informal enquires should be made to Paul Grayson, Academic Lead for Apprenticeships via email: p.grayson@chester.ac.uk

The department would welcome applications from those who may wish to job share or undertake this role on a part time basis.
